Interlude - Dear Little Dominic

A song I wrote and dedicated to my husband for our 15th anniversary, on the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, October 7th.

Saint Dominic had been trying to defeat the Albigensian heresy, all to no avail. He went into the woods, and ate nothing and scourged himself for three days imploring help from Heaven, until for hunger and loss of blood he fell unconscious. He might have died. At this time, however, Our Lady appeared to him and gave him the Rosary, and told him why his preaching was not having much effect because he was not preparing the soil before he was trying to plant the Faith. She told him simply to preach the Rosary, and that she would convert the world through it. This story is related in detail in St. Louis de Montfort's book, The Secret of the Rosary. 

This song is an imaginative poem about their encounter together, and how Our Lady might have spoken to St. Dominic as his mother, just as she was rousing him out of the coma and giving him the Rosary.
